I disagree that it’s ‘crappy’. It’s hard for me to see detail on my video version. I suspect the beauty of this collection is in the detail and the fabrics., which I couldn’t see in detail, but supsect that therein lies the beauty of this collection. I love the silhouette though I found the shoe tassels distracting.

I think the prints worked a lot better in the S/S 08 show than here. I thought the way NG used them in that show as floral gladiators, if you will, was very inspired and eye-catching. I don’t know, maybe I’ll learn to like this collection one day. But right now, as an avid fan, I’m not too impressed.

as far as the prints they couldnt get anymore spanish Balenciaga, thats what he did, he had a period where he used so many florals like that even hand painted, but the prints did remind me alot of claassic balenciaga.

Let’s not go there, I love Balenciaga and Balenciaga IS French elegance as far as I’m concerned. I just find the music and choice of models particularly bad when compared to the other shows NG has done. And I’m not moved by the clothes especially the satin pieces. The prints are too messy and busy as well.

It highlights the delicacy in this collection, and I agree, there is something quintessentially French about both the collection and the music. It is a new look for Ghesquiere, though. While it resembles his early collections for Balenciaga, it isn’t as though he is a one trick pony who is returning to some older work he did.

Subtlety can often be wasted on the crass. The collection is not boring, but rather it is Parisian, restrained, somewhat austere and, as good art does, appropriately mirrors the times. Elegance and taste are always in style. The entire thing is divine.
