As the opening date for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games draws closer, more projects are being completed by the city to prepare for the Games. The latest is the Richmond Olympic Oval, which opens recently, remarkably 14 months ahead of Vancouver 2010 Games time.
Built by the City of Richmond, the $178-million project [planning, organizing and financing by VANOC] will host the long track speed skating competition for the 2010 Games on its 400-metre track. The massive structure, a venue showpiece under construction since late 2005, has soaring arches and huge windows with uninterrupted views from sea to sky on the shores of the Fraser River. The spectacular facility is so large it could hold four airliners on its main activity floor and seat about 8,000 spectators.
Tickets for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games were on sale on the internet at Craigslist and eBay for as high as $2,500 each when first available. Opening ceremony tickets were going at $2,000 a piece. They are a rare commodity and many are willing to part with several thousand dollars for a couple of tickets and still no luck. Have you got yours yet?

Hey there. I REALLY REALLY want to volunteer for the 2010 winter olympics held at vancouver, Canada. I live in Vancouver and I’m a second year student at UBC. However, the main website says I have to be 19 by september 2009. I turn 19 at october 2009…. What are some ways for me to eligible to volunteer for the olympics?
you cant volunteer for game time participation because of safety issues and training required with certain machines however, you can still volunteer with the youth program between age 15-19

I want to get tickets before they are sold out I don’t even know if they are on sale yet I did visit the official Vancouver 2010 website but its only for us and Canadian citizens, I looked on ticket master and could not see any can anyone in th know assist me! thanks
Actually, you are incorrect about the Vancouver 2010 website only showing ticket contacts for North American natives. Their International Ticket Sales page lists many International outlets broken down into which country they serve and whether they offer tickets for the Olympics, the Paralympics or both. For Great Britain, they list:
Great Britain
Olympic Tickets
Organization Name: Sportsworld
Contact Name: Jonathan Guiry
Phone: +44(0).1235.555844
E-mail: Vancouver2010@sportsworld.co.uk
Website: www.sportsworld.co.uk/vancouver
Paralympic Tickets
Organization Name: Travel Places
Contact Name: David Freeman
Phone: +44.0.1903.832888
E-mail: davef@travelplaces.co.uk
Website: http://www.travelplaces.co.uk/home.htm
as the official sources for tickets. Currently, Sportsworld has a waiting list but expects to fulfill at least some of it by the end of the month. Travel Places’s deadline to purchase tickets has passed. However, they are still setting up travel packages, which I assume will include event tickets.
