Ski season 2009/2010, Whistler Canada, am not sure what job I should apply for?
Posted in canada 2010
I have accommodation sorted as have a friend that lives in Whistler, however, am not sure what job to apply for and then where I should apply.
Any advice will be appreciated?
Kind Regards,
Jamie
Hi. As having lived in Whistler for several years, this is what I recommend. Keep in mind that this year is going to be different for Whistler because of the Olympics.
But, if you already have accomodations, you’re halfway there…

The best advice I can give you is do it now. With the Olympics looming, most places have already begun hiring – and there’s a lot of pressure to land a job in Whistler, just to be part of the Olympic scene.
What job you apply for depends on what your qualifications are. What can you do? What experience do you have?

Keep informed online, there are usually lots of job fairs as well.
I suggest arriving to Whistler before the end of August to get in line for jobs in September. Come prepared with copies of your resume. If you can, have a few different type of copies to match the type of jobs you’re interested in applying for. That could make a difference. If you have a particular skill, make sure you do some research on the Internet, Whistler is like a small city, it has everything and every skill is needed.
Very Important!!! Make sure to have your Whistler address and a Whistler phone number on your resume to be considered for employment in Whistler. Your resume won’t even be looked at if you don’t have accomodation in Whistler.
And don’t forget to pack some "casual" but professional clothing for the interviews. That will also put you ahead of many that interview for seasonal jobs, that usually look like slobs or like they came staight from a pub crawl…LOL.
The best of luck to you and don’t let anyone get you down about a job in Whistler. If you’re prepared, you will get something.
Cheers,
V.
