Please provide reasoning why Singapore should/not host Youth Olympic Games 2010.
I personally thinks Singapore is more than capable to host internation sport competition. =)
What about yours?
I am for Singapore's bid to host the Youth Olympic Games:
1.) Despite the size, Singapore can accomodate the hundreds of thousands of athletes and visitors, the country has so many hostels, hotels, and other similar provisions for accomodations.
2.) The Singapore government will surely prepare on this. With the latest successful APEC Summit in Singapore, I am sure, they can host thousand of people coming.
3.) Many Asian countries can come and witness the event, it will benefit all Asian economies, with the influx of airline ticket purchases, reservations, use of banks and other finances. It will be a big boom to Singapore and Asian economies.
4. Unlike other countries, Singapore is open to so many visitors, unlike if the country is hosted by a country with so many visa restrictions. Many may not be able to witness the Youth Olympics.
5. As earlier stated, it will boost the economy and spending in Singapore. It will increase purchases, and tourism.
6. I am pretty sure, Singapore can handle issues of illegal migration, overstaying, undesirable aliens, violators and others.

Frankly speaking, as per current state, Singapore are still lack of sport facilities such as sport stadiums to host a major sport competition such as Youth Olympic Games. As except the current sport hub which is under contruction, all other stadiums are too small for international sport competition.
Thus, if Singapore manage to host the Youth Olympic Games in 2010, that meant the country will need to put in many fund to build more world class sport stadium.
Beside that, the Hotel room capacity is also not enough to cater for so many participants and visitors. Which meant more hotels need to be built.
No doubt Singapore are capable to host international event, but we also need to admit the lack of infrustracture here.

Is Singapore big country (wide area)? I think it is more fittable for normal olympics than Tokyo to hold. Tokyo is too crowded but they declared to wish to host olympics in 2012 or something. If Tokyo is hosting olympics it has venues from the past olympics held in 1960th but is feared of becoming a target for terrorism. It is too dense and too small.
