I hadn't made a montage in almost a year, so I thought I would go ahead and get this one finished. It's just a very early preview of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver featuring Mao Asada of Japan, Yu-Na Kim of Korea, and Mirai Nagasu and Caroline Zhang of the United States. I love these four ladies and I hope that they all stay healthy and make it to Vancouver! Note: The quality isn't the best, so some of the writing may be hard to read. I did my best with darkening the colors so that …

I would not be …
I would not be surprised if an underdog grabs the gold medal. Look at the past 3-4 olympics. Arakawa, Hughes were both underdogs, and Lipinski and Baiul were underdogs to some extend. It will be very interesting and I almost cannot wait.. =)
Exactly. The field …
Exactly. The field in the upcoming worlds will be very tough for the US skaters to penetrate inspite of the home turf advantage. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Americans will only manage to book one spot in Vancouver. The Asians [mostly Japs] are still pretty much the dominant block while the Europeans, particularly the Russians, are quickly reassembling a strong pack. Rochette is also expected to take a slot. Some other possible surprises who are not currently under the radar may emerge too.

I looove Mao, shes just so relaxed on the ice…like its her home, Mao (or Sasha if she comes back) for gold 2010!!
well…I think Mao …
well…I think Mao Asada is a wild card. if she can perform that made herself satisfy, i’m pretty sure she will win. i like caroline and mirai, too and carolina’s jump is better this season.

i like joannie, but …
joannie probably ranks 8th on my list right now but that’s not a knock against her. i love her classic style of skating and i’m happy she’s had such a great year. i’m pretty sure she’ll be on the podium this year at worlds if she can deliver.
i like joannie, but i was focusing on my favorite four skaters.
didn’t she go to jr …
didn’t she go to jr worlds? she came in second
her age wasn’t the …
her age wasn’t the issue; she was old enough to make the world team. every article i’ve read about nationals has mentioned that. Even if that was the case she still could have been placed 1st and been sent to jr worlds like Mirai did last year. shutting her out of the team was seemed deliberate by the USFSA and it’s crazy because she’s the best international skater the US has. she’s the only US skater ranked in the top 10 of the world standings.
I am nervous about …
I am nervous about the worlds in Los Angeles when it comes to the US ladies. I mean this the Olympic qualification and what if they only manage one spot on the Olympic team. The competition is so though. Asada, Ando, Kim, Suguri, Rochette, Kostner, Lepisto, Leonova, Poykio, Phaneuf, etc etc. It is going to be hard…. :/

As of now it …
As of now it doesn’t look like they are ready yet. But, if Caroline can fix her speed and technique issues and Mirai can adjust to her growth spurt and get her jumps back, both of them are the best bet for the national team. It’s doubtful they’ll win but they could definitely place top 10 if they go…definitely higher than Czisny or Flatt anyway…
Nagasu and Jhang …
Nagasu and Jhang are good players, but can they get the qualification for 2010? I think their period is not yet come even their junior history is not more impressive than Yuna and Mao. They should overcome the two unbreakable walls with some high rankers. I guess it’ll not be easy for 4-5 years form now on.
she’s still only 15 …
she’s still only 15, she’ll turn 16 in may buy worlds are in march.
What avout Joannie …
What avout Joannie Rochette?
No, she’s old …
No, she’s old enough; they just shut her out. She would have had to turn 15 by July 1st 2008 to qualify which she did b/c her birthday is May 20th so she did qualify this year. For some reason the judges thought an inconsistent Czisny and less than interesting Rachael were a better pick, which is ridiculous because Caroline has scored higher than both of them internationally. Too bad though, b/c after her performance at 4CC they now see she had a good chance to place high…
actually herm712, …
actually herm712, Caroline didn’t go to the worlds team ’cause she isn’t old enough. for senior worlds you have to be at least 16 and she was only 15!

I would put my money on either Mao Asada or Yu-Na Kim. I would be happy if any of the American ladies made it to the podium!!!

She just had a rough night. Hopefully she’ll be better by worlds. Yuna did wonderfully though, and so did Caroline! No one would have thought Caroline would place 4th out of all of the top names there…even she was surprised! She said she expected no higher than 6th place. The US made a huge mistake not namine her to the world team. Instead, Alissa and Rachael, who finished 9th and 7th will be going while Caroline goes to jr. worlds.
